भारत सरकारने विविध समाजमाध्यम मंचाचा वापर करणाऱ्या डिजिटल माध्यमांवर (Digital Media/ News Portal) प्रकाशित साहित्यविषयक तक्रारींचे निवारण करणे तसेच त्यांच्या हक्कांचे उल्लंघन होत असेल तर त्याची जबाबदारी निश्चित करणे शक्य व्हावे, यासाठी 25 फेब्रुवारी 2021 पासून नवे माहिती तंत्रज्ञान (मध्यस्थ मार्गदर्शक सूचना आणि माध्यमांसाठी आचार संहिता) नियम 2021 अधिसूचित केले आहेत.
आचारसंहिता आणि डिजिटल माध्यमांशी संबंधित प्रक्रिया आणि सुरक्षा यंत्रणा यांच्याशी संबंधित असलेला नियमांचा दुसरा भाग स्वयंनियमन संस्थेअंतर्गत लागू केला आहे. केंद्र शासनाच्या कायद्यानुसार आणि नव्या धोरणानुसार Digital Media & News Portal Publisher Grievances Council of India नामक स्वनियमन संस्था (self-regulatory-bodies) स्थापन करण्यात आली आहे.
Self-Regulatory Body under the name of “Digital Media Publishers & News Portal Grievance Council of India” as per the Rule 12 of Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The SRB by the name of “Digital Media Publishers & News Portal Grievance Council of India” seeks registration from the Ministry and declares to abide by the rules and regulation as issued by the Ministry from time to time.
